"Are you alfredo the dark?" - Chris

"Eating chocolate is bad - it'll take you to hell. Well, I'm not going to hell for eating chocolate!" - mythology prof

Who starts construction and roofing before 8am on a Monday morning? I'm so tired... Well, I'm now in the final week of classes, and there is still so much to do. I'm trying my best not to whine, really. Hehe.

Ok, so the "Greatest Canadian" contest is over. Here's the final order, for those who have not been keeping up on these things:

1. Tommy Douglas
2. Terry Fox
3. Pierre Elliott Trudeau
4. Sir Frederick Banting
5. David Suzuki
6. Lester B. Pearson
7. Don Cherry
8. Sir John A. Macdonald
9. Alexander Graham Bell
10. Wayne Gretzky

How do you feel about this list? Out of our whole country, *only* 1.2 million people voted... I think that's a little sad. I think that Wayne Gretzky and Don Cherry don't deserve to be on the list... I mean, sure they have inspired young hockey fans and they have had some degree of accomplishment, but I don't think that they are on the same level as a past PM.

So, I got an email from my writing teacher, and it turns out that only 17 students were accepted into the course. I feel so proud. :)
Second best picture ever...

I just found this pic in my room...

This is Alex, my brother, about seven years old. He liked dressing up. And no, that's not his real hair. His legs are both in the same pant leg, too. Pea green pants. Yum. That look on his face? Complete embarrassment.

"Why are there bartending books mixed in with the parenting books?"
"I think it's intended as a warning... You know, like, mixing nutrition books with dog, cat and horse books." - a conversation between me and a co-worker

Three weeks left in school. And then... exams. All five of them. My last one is December 21st... sucky, eh? When am I going to find the time to leave the house to get Christmas presents?! More importantly, when am I going to find the time to read the dozens of books I've bought over the course of the last few months, which I justified buying by saying I'd read them over the holiday? Sigh.

Really, though, these past 2 1/2 months have gone by SO quickly, but looking back, I realize that I've done a LOT. I've read many books for my classes, and written far too many quizzes (stupid "Kwik Kwizes" in Shakespeare). Fun times, though, I enjoy learning, even when it's immensely stressful...

Chris, Franz Ferdinand rocks in general, but their musicality definitely makes them that much better.

See you in January!

It turns out that I did get into the poetry writing course - I got an email from Michael Redhill (the teacher) yesterday. I literally jumped out of my skin. So now, I have a three hour break on Mondays, so I can hopefully get tons of work done...

Thanks to those who have had confidence in me and my talents, even when I didn't have any.

"funny how the modern symphonies of our lives have become triple 'F' forte with burning, prestissimo tempos... we don't sound like music anymore." - Hawksley Workman

A relative of mine was killed this past week in an accident on his farm, and this whole event has made me realize that any given day could be my last and that I should cherish every single day despite the difficulties that arise. So, to my parents, relatives, friends... I do love you and thank you for being there for me on the good and bad days. I really appreciate all that you have done for me, and how you have helped shape who I have become.

"Hey, what are we actually reading in this class?" someone asked me in my Women's Literature course today, so I told him the play title. "You know what's awesome? I haven't even read any of the texts for this class yet."
My reply? "That's not awesome. You're stupid."

Why bother going to university if you're not going to read any of the texts?! If you don't actually read what we're discussing, what are you hoping to get out of the four years and $20,000? I don't get it...

Anyway. How many kids came to YOUR door on Sunday? We had 17. I originally had thought there would be about 10, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I always get stuck on the bus at 3:15 pm, because the only other bus leaves before 3, hence before my classes end. Therefore, I'm stuck on the same bus every day with the most annoying group of girls I have ever seen. They could be the only people on the bus, and they would still be screaming at each other from across the aisle. Today, they kept pointing out specific people on the bus and saying, "sorry, man, but you're really ugly." I was torn between wanting to kick the crap out of these (not even halfway cute) thirteen year old girls and wanting to kick the crap out of the people they were picking on for not standing up for themselves. These girls are so disrespectful that when an elderly lady was taking a moment to get up off of her seat (to get off of the bus), they literally pushed everyone out of their way, creating a domino effect, and pushing the old lady over and back on to her seat. Thank goodness she wasn't near the door when this happened, because she probably would have fallen down the steps. What's going on with teenagers these days? I'm dumbfounded. It's come to the point where I am willing to miss the 3:15 bus just so that I can keep my sanity for the rest of the night - or at least until I get home.

Today, I also witnessed a real-life game of Frogger. A man completely cut across a flashing green light at McCowan Rd., right in front of speeding cars, in order to catch a bus to the Town Centre. Normally, I would have been scared or at least scared for the person who almost is being hit, BUT this guy was just dumb. His options: wait 3 minutes for another bus... or be hit by a car going 60 down Ellesmere. Hmm. Which outcome do you think I was hoping for??
