"Hey, what are we actually reading in this class?" someone asked me in my Women's Literature course today, so I told him the play title. "You know what's awesome? I haven't even read any of the texts for this class yet."
My reply? "That's not awesome. You're stupid."

Why bother going to university if you're not going to read any of the texts?! If you don't actually read what we're discussing, what are you hoping to get out of the four years and $20,000? I don't get it...

Anyway. How many kids came to YOUR door on Sunday? We had 17. I originally had thought there would be about 10, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I always get stuck on the bus at 3:15 pm, because the only other bus leaves before 3, hence before my classes end. Therefore, I'm stuck on the same bus every day with the most annoying group of girls I have ever seen. They could be the only people on the bus, and they would still be screaming at each other from across the aisle. Today, they kept pointing out specific people on the bus and saying, "sorry, man, but you're really ugly." I was torn between wanting to kick the crap out of these (not even halfway cute) thirteen year old girls and wanting to kick the crap out of the people they were picking on for not standing up for themselves. These girls are so disrespectful that when an elderly lady was taking a moment to get up off of her seat (to get off of the bus), they literally pushed everyone out of their way, creating a domino effect, and pushing the old lady over and back on to her seat. Thank goodness she wasn't near the door when this happened, because she probably would have fallen down the steps. What's going on with teenagers these days? I'm dumbfounded. It's come to the point where I am willing to miss the 3:15 bus just so that I can keep my sanity for the rest of the night - or at least until I get home.

Today, I also witnessed a real-life game of Frogger. A man completely cut across a flashing green light at McCowan Rd., right in front of speeding cars, in order to catch a bus to the Town Centre. Normally, I would have been scared or at least scared for the person who almost is being hit, BUT this guy was just dumb. His options: wait 3 minutes for another bus... or be hit by a car going 60 down Ellesmere. Hmm. Which outcome do you think I was hoping for??

Hehehe...I do the same thing! Then again, there's really no reason for me to do that, because the number of kids I get at my door declines each year.

I agree...most teenagers these days are incredibly stupid and self-centered. I just compare it to elementary school...when we were younger we did everything we could to please the teacher, and when we had supply teachers we were on our best behaviour. Granted, you've got a couple troublemakers, but that's expected. Things have changed since we were kids, and it makes me feel old and I wonder what the world is coming to.

Ah, Dad, that's so like you... hehe. I can just see you handing out all of the smarties and the kids saying, "I don't like smarties, can I have an o henry?" and you take back the smarties and say "no! now get off my porch!" ... hehe.

Mellie, I know what you mean about elementary school. I feel like an old guy when I say "back in my day, kids respected their elders..." but it's true! In elementary school, there was always the disruptive kids, but they were scared shitless of the thought of getting a detention, but now suspension is nothing to them. On the bus, those girls that I was talking about were also talking about how they're going to see their parole officers, and how they plan to go shoplifting "for fun" on the weekend... Teens grow up far too quickly nowadays, and I, too, wonder what the world's coming to. If the current teens are our future, I'm scared.

I think being stupid is worse than being ugly, and I'm assuming you do too. So what's worse, being the person who calls people 'ugly' behind their backs, or the person who calls them stupid in an online weblog?

Please tread lightly; you never know who you'll step on next.
