Who starts construction and roofing before 8am on a Monday morning? I'm so tired... Well, I'm now in the final week of classes, and there is still so much to do. I'm trying my best not to whine, really. Hehe.
Ok, so the "Greatest Canadian" contest is over. Here's the final order, for those who have not been keeping up on these things:
1. Tommy Douglas
2. Terry Fox
3. Pierre Elliott Trudeau
4. Sir Frederick Banting
5. David Suzuki
6. Lester B. Pearson
7. Don Cherry
8. Sir John A. Macdonald
9. Alexander Graham Bell
10. Wayne Gretzky
How do you feel about this list? Out of our whole country, *only* 1.2 million people voted... I think that's a little sad. I think that Wayne Gretzky and Don Cherry don't deserve to be on the list... I mean, sure they have inspired young hockey fans and they have had some degree of accomplishment, but I don't think that they are on the same level as a past PM.

I know... I noticed that, too. However, David Suzuki's advocate (Melissa Auf der Maur) commented that since Suzuki is the only minority in the top ten, he is the closest thing to a woman in the countdown. I thought that was an odd comment to make... Chris and I were discussing the lack of women in the countdown, but we couldn't think of anyone who would make it onto the list. Maybe you can help us out, Gillian...?
Maybe Harriet Tubman?
As for the final list, Sir John A. and Pearson probably should've been above David Suzuki and Don Cherry (who I don't think should be in the top 10 at all).
Good idea, Justin, but I think Harriet Tubman was American... I completely agree with you that Don Cherry shouldn't have been on the list and that Sir John A Macdonald should have been higher on the list, especially because he's behind a tv celebrity? Come on... I'd like to think that former PMs would take priority over a tv personality that isn't more than a fad...?
Well the whole thing is that these people have done something in order to improve Canada and/or the world. Even Wayne Gretsky is debatable, so how can Don Cherry be there? Thats like saying... David Letterman is one of the greatest Americans.
Isn't he...? :S
We're not saying that he isn't the greatest Canadian... We were trying to figure out why Cherry was nominated and made it to #7.
And really, without him, who would go to Quiznos? Toasted does taste better....
