Hey Everyone,
Just writing my last essay! It's on "Elimination Dance" -- one of Ondaatje's poems. There is a short film adaptation of the poem, which I think is really interesting and funny. If you're interested, I've posted the link to the film. Enjoy! :)

(Apologies that I couldn't make the link pretty, but I can't figure out how to do it in this new version of blogger... hehe)

I just wanted to announce this to the world... I am now a germaphobe.

It's not one of those irrational fears... I think that my physical illness due to my realization can attest to my actual fear.

People are vile. I realized that today. People are downright disgusting creatures. In the last half an hour I've witnessed: many sneezers/coughers who didn't cover their mouths/noses in lecture, four people spitting on the ground, a cafeteria worker not wearing gloves or washing her hands between making meals, one massive coughing fit followed by massive amounts of spitting on the ground, and a dozen used tissues on the bus. How disgusting are people? I can't even EAT, I'm so positively disgusted.

I have just washed the doorknobs in our house.

And washed my hands twice.

I know I'm not a hypochondriac. I don't have "medical student's disease," which my health prof has warned us about. I know that, rationally, I've been exposed to uncountable amounts of bacterium before in restaurants, and walked amongst spit all of my life. But if you are aware of these things, and KNOW of the diseases/infections you can GET from spit on the ground and not washing ones hands after going to the washroom, you have a responsibility to try to change things. Well, I don't plan on like, screaming at people who spit on the ground, but I am looking out for ME now. No more passive personal health care. I will remain healthy and not catch THOSE NASTY PEOPLE'S diseases.

Thank you.

PS: Go wash your hands. I know I will.

everybody loves them updates

Sorry I've been ignoring this blogger lately. Nothing much has been happening around here, and yet so much.

The four essays I'm writing are taking up a lot of time...

  • the gender dichotomies in marriages in Medea and A Doll's House (3/4 done)

  • the etiological roots (in genetics and the environment) of Alzheimer's Disease (finished)

  • the use of creation and birth of Frankenstein's monster as extensions of social concerns in Shelley's novel and two film adaptations (90% done)

  • and the role of history ("mockumentary") and the socially marginal in Ondaatje's Elimination Dance (the research is finished...?)

  • Yeah. So the last two weeks have been insane. The next two weeks will be slightly better, but that Ondaatje essay is looming over my head. Hopefully it'll come out in a clear, cohesive essay. Hopefully.

I've done a lot of planning for the wedding these past few weeks... so the venue, wedding dress, invitations/reply cards/place cards are ordered, and the centre pieces are purchased. Next: flowers, photography, DJ. And then we'll be almost finished! Yayyy! Hehe.

December 1-5 I'll be in NY visiting Chris... looking forward to a bit of a break before exams and some wintery, gift-giving holiday (I've forgotten which...).

Anyway. Enough procrastinating. But now you're caught up, and those whom I haven't spoken with in a few weeks, now you know why ;)
