"I wish the best of beauty and of lightness to enter your worlds today and in days to come."-Hawksley Workman

I don't know why everything he says comes out so beautifully. On a related note, "Treeful of Starling" (HW's 6th cd!) is being released on Feb 14, so guess who will be first in line? I saw a preview for it, and it looks like the folk Hawksley is back, as opposed to the more experimental and arguably mainstream incarnation in Lover/Fighter.

My past week has been quite busy, due to work, Christmas, family get-togethers, etc. My cartoons are still up and going - this season and the number of odd people at work have created many hilarious cartooning moments (many of which are in storage until I get a block, at which point I will whip them out and pass them off as new).

I think that is about all for now... I hope that your final week and a half of school break (except York students) goes well, and that it gives you the little bit of relaxation needed to kick off the 2006 school year.

Chris and I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and congratulations regarding our engagement. This is a really special time in both of our lives, and we are glad to be able to share our excitement with you. Unlike Chris, I find it hard to keep quiet about these events, so I apologize for my continuing rants. Hehe.

Tomorrow is my last exam for this session, and I'm glad. The majority of my exams this year have been really hard, and have caused great stress. So, I'll be glad when they're over. But with no exams comes many many extra shifts at work: all Thursday, Friday, Saturday morning and Monday morning. Did I mention that I love retail around Christmas? Hehe. Oh well. It'll be good to get some new ideas for my comics (I still have been adding them, so go to the link if you're interested).

Anyway, I hope that your seasonal festivities are going well!

And It's Official

Yesterday was Chris' and my 5th year anniversary. After a great Italian dinner and The Magic Flute, we returned to Chris' apartment, at which time Chris proposed to me. I had no idea that this was going to happen, and needless to say, I'm still in shock a little. I'm amazingly happy and can't wait until our wedding in May/June, 2007.

Thank you, my love, for a great and memorable weekend.

Life's A Cartoon

A new stage in cartooning means the introduction of my cartoon webpage: Life's A Cartoon. My goal is to put all of my (good) cartoons up to this point in the archive, and add a new cartoon daily or every few days. I hope you like them, because I enjoy making them.

The link is to the right, and there is a new cartoon ("Curling Mom") waiting for you there.

I have recently completed my 100th cartoon. Thanks goes to those who have felt my enthusiasm and shared a laugh. At the moment, I feel a little star struck, knowing that Matt Rosemier has seen some of my cartoons (a link to his great website, Edible Dirt, is to the right). As much as I'd like to believe that these comics are simply for fun (which, of course, they are), this has boosted my ego just a tad bit too much, and so I feel compelled to add some more cartoons.

Enjoy.

"i don't have a cent this Christmas, usual it seems. so i think i'll learn how to knit." - HW

Christmas is here. Yes, it's December 4th, but we're on Christmas hours at work, so if you want to shop until 11pm, here's your chance! (please... do NOT come in...). Although I understand making the hours later like, a week or two before Christmas, we started December 1st this year. While it is fine for the sales staff on the floor (they can clean all night and still get out at 11:30), us on cash have the task of counting our tills and doing all of the paper work (which is a nightmare) in 30 minutes. It's hard to do that on a normal night, not even during a Christmas rush. I spoke with a coworker last night, and she said that she didn't get home until after 12am, at which point she had to write 2 essays for Monday (because she works all day today as well). It just never lets up.

The managers did not put up a sign up sheet for the holidays this year, like they usually do. We're supposed to be available either Christmas eve or New Years eve to work, but this year they want all of us to be able to work either (or both) days. While I don't mind working New Years eve (I don't plan on going out, because we usually don't), but Christmas eve is a) insane b) insane and c) the only day I can see Chris. Boxing day is 100% cool for me (I've never had to work Boxing day), New Years day is 100% cool for me, too. But watch: I will be scheduled for Christmas eve just because I need it off. And no one will take my shift. Because they all are sane.

    Rant over.

I have 3 paragraphs left in my final essay, and if I keep procrastinating it won't ever finish. So. Two more cartoons to express my feelings for the day.
